Who is Clinic Shanti
Clinic Shanti is a smoke-free environment! A smoke-free clinic, 'I expected that!' I hear you saying. However, the chinese character for acupuncturist traditionaly translates to: the one who brings balance through fire and metal. There is no fire without smoke! A whole lot of acupuncturists have deleted the practice of moxibustion from their practice, the fire element, because of the ill smoke associated with it. This creates an important lack in the current practice of acupuncture. Also, because of its powerful healing possibilities, other acupuncturists persist in the use of classic moxibustion, ignoring the warnings and health risks for their own health mostly, and on the long term, those of their patients. Clinic Shanti is a smoke free environment, owing to a new way of doing, developed by Olivier Roy, Acupuncturist. It is a technique of moxibustion using the heat of water contained in a metal recipient, one manufactured by klean kanteen. Water, which accounts for 85% of our constitution, vibrates naturally with the human organism, through an orderly medium, the one of metal. It is a natural and effective technique of biostimulation, which reduces the risks of burning the acupoints, and eliminates the emission of harmful gases. Moreover, water is a vehicle for intention. See the fabulous work of doctor Masuro Emoto for more on this. It is that book which brought Olivier Roy to dream and apply this new process of moxibustion.
Clinic Shanti has been founded by Olivier Roy, Acupuncturist, Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher. Member of L'Ordre des Acupuncteurs du Québec and l'Association Canadienne des Thérapeutes en Médecines Douces, Olivier Roy is a humane and rigourous health professionnal, as well as a frontline clinician for a lot of people.
Acupuncture is the therapeutic tool of choice for Olivier's work in the clinic. He also combines different visions and practices of acupuncture acquired through millennias of practitioners perfecting this natural, side effects free medicine.
His training in Chinese Medicine at Collège Rosemont established the foundation of his current acupuncture practice. Olivier integrated after that fundamental principles of japanese hara acupuncture, in the Kiiko Matsumoto style.
Before practicing acupuncture, Olivier Roy has been and still is practicing massage therapy, with the ground breaking approach of Traditional Thai Massage, as well as yoga teaching. This curriculum stimulated the success of his practice of acupuncture.
Olivier Roy discovered his mission at the young age of 21, and since then, works at it tirelessly. It is very simple: Serve.
Olivier Roy loves what he does and enjoys talking about it. He is the author of the content of Clinique Shanti. He also participated to various external publications, including the online version of Coup de Pouce, the french monthly with the most readers in Québec.
